Season 6 - Division 2 (Prem, 1 & 2)

Start of season thoughts:
This season will be a new experience, it will be the first time that we will play 7 real teams.
Last season we finished 2nd and got promoted, but the irony is that we would have been playing in this division anyway, as they have now scrapped the bottom division. Anyway this season, I think that we will do well and would expect us to finish between 3rd and 6th.
I expect us to be comfortably mid table, with the hope that we can build on this season and challenge for promotion next campaign.

Match 1
How the match went: This was a hard thought match, which hard good and bad points.
This side are not a bad team and we should have given them a better game. At times our defending was brilliant and others it was, well, appalling.
Global in the match went 5-0 up, before Paul and Tom scored 2 goals in quick succession. There was a superb free kick from Global, which went straight into the bottom corner.
Overall it could have been better and we need improvement
Match 2
How the match went: The first thing I am going to say about this match is what a game!
We started badly by conceding 4 goals in 10 minutes, at this point I envisaged a collapse and I am proud to say that this didnt happen. Once we went behind it spurred us on and by half time we were only 5-3 down, with Alex and Tom getting the goals (I think).
In the second half it was like we were a different team, we poured forward and created chance after chance, we should have put more goals past the diamonds, but in their defence they also missed a few chances. In the 2nd half goals from Alex, James, Andy and the last minute winner from Paul sealed this victory.
Im not quite sure what happened to Alexs shooting in this game, but it is irrelevant now as we got the result. There were good performances from everyone in the team, with me & Tom doing well at the back, Dave making some superb saves in goal, some touches of class from Paul and Alex and lots of hard work from Andy & James.
Overall it was a good game and I think the result was well deserved.
Match 3
How the match went: This was a shocking match, which was hugely dictated by the weather.
With no disrespect to RBS, I feel that we should have beaten them comfortably, especially after last weeks result. We started the match badly by conceding a quick goal, but then managed to go 2- 1 up through 2 goals from Paul. I thought at this point we would run away with it. After we went into the lead, it started to snow into our faces and the pitch became unplayable. It was impossible to keep your footing, people kept slipping, falling over & generally trying to brake there legs.
When the snow finally stopped we were 5-2 down and had very little hope of getting anything from this game. We did eventually get it together and were fighting back, but we just ran out of time.
Overall, this was a costly 3 points which I feel we should have won. On a bizarre note, please can someone explain to me, if we lost the game, how we have moved from 5th to 4th in the league table.
Match 4
How the match went: This was a match against the reformed Jungalist Soldiers and it showed.
Although we were completely outplayed for the match, we didnt do ourselves any favours by defending terribly. This was a shocking match, which we only started playing like a team in the last 5 minutes, in this period we managed to score 3 goals. In the game itself, Paul and Alex both scored 2 goals to make the score look respectable.
Overall we were beaten by a better team and also played abysmally as well.
Match 5
How the match went: This was a good game, against a team I thought we may struggle against.
We played well as a team, passed the ball around, created chance after chance and to be honest should have scored more. I was guilty of that, I myself got a solitary goal, but should have had more. I think everyone scored tonight with Paul and Andy getting hat tricks, this match turned into a farce, it made us look good.
Overall this was a good game and we could have been confused for Brazilian national team. Hopefully next week against SBU we will follow this up.
Match 6
How the match went: This was another wasted opportunity to pick up all 3 points, which we really should have taken.
We started the game well by going 4-1 up, with a goal from me and a couple from Paul. At this point we began to take the game for granted and conceded a further 5 goals without reply, all of these were within the last 10 minutes of the 1st half.
At half time we were 6-4 down and stunned at the turn around by SBU. In the second half we played as a team at the back and didnt concede any goals. To cap it off we managed to score 2 ourselves, to make the game level.
Overall, this was an awful game to watch, with 2 teams that really should have played better. Im not sure whether the glass is half full or half empty with this result.
Match 7
How the match went: This was a bad performance on a miserable night.
We started badly and quickly conceded the first 2 goals in the match. Paul almost immediately hit back and we came within one goal of them to 2-1. Due to the conditions we conceded 2 soft goals, because the ball spun of Daves gloves and trickled into the corner of the goal. At this point the match went downhill & we collapsed, at half time we were 7-3 down and facing an uphill struggle.
The second half we defended more resolutely and although conceded further goals, I was please with our 2nd half performance, as we held our own. Goals from Paul, Alex and James made a good game of this
Overall M&P did well, they are not the team we beat 3 seasons ago, but this match summed up our season.
End of season thoughts:
Before the start of this season, I predicted that we would finish in mid table.
We have achieved this and finished in 6th place, but it has been an inconsistent season. We have had some good results, namely the wins against the Slimey Diamonds & the Chronic, but we have also had some bad results, like the loss to RBS.
This season has been a learning curve and there is still plenty of room for improvement.
