Season 5 - Division 3 (Prem, 1, 2 & 3)

Start of season thoughts:
The new season will be starting soon and I hope that this season is better than the last two months. I think that we will give ourselves a far better showing.
This season there are only 4 teams in our league, as Rentford Rejects and Leigh Boys have pulled out and the 2 teams coming down have also pulled out. I feel this will be a good season, as the other teams in our league are Common Attack, who we always give a good game, Atlantis Rangers who we beat last season and The Chronic.
As their are 2 teams out of 4 going up, I feel this will be our season.
Ammended thoughts (13/01/2004):
The two teams that pulled out, have now been replaced and with our 3 point advantage I see no reason why we cant go up. With no disrespect, I watched the 2 other teams and if we don't go up, I will be extremely disappointed.

Match 1
How the match went: This was a complete farce, as a division of 4, shrank to 2 and they couldnt even get us a friendly. Click on this link for the full story and information.
It is still a win and still 3 points, so we cant complain.
Match 2
How the match went: This was a cracking game and shows that we have made huge strides forward, since joining Pitch Invasion.
Tonights team was me, Paul, Dave, Tim, Tom, James, Andy and all of us had good games. Although it was a tight game, there could have been so many more goals. Mainly due to the reflexes of Karl, who has played for us on several occasions, did the score not rise.
We finished the 1st half with a 1-0 lead, Tom scored a goal when he ran onto a corner. Then Andy made it 2, with a cheeky chip into the corner, after a sublime pass from me. They pulled one back later on and set up a tight finish.
Overall, I think we all had a good game, but without doubt; the player of the week was Tom. Tom got in front of everything, blocked chances, tackled, annoyed and generally was everywhere. He dropped back into the centre defence, when I went off and although he didnt think so, he played a blinder.
This was a good match and showed our team spirit, we have taken another step forward tonight. I feel that we should be promoted comfortably, a big well done to everyone who played.
Match 3
How the match went: This was a good game, against a reformed Seebic Physos.
We had the best of the game and I feel that we should have scored more goals (Im biased), but saying that we won the game and thats all that matters. The match started badly as we quickly went a goal down, but we soon pulled it back and eventually took the lead. 2 goals came from James, 1 from me, Alex and Andy, Paul got a hat-trick and Tom got one.
We stuttered a bit in the second half, when we conceded a couple of quick goals, but continued on to win. Overall this was a good performance and puts us on top of the league with a maximum of 9 points from 9.
Well done to everyone
Match 4
How the match went: This was an appalling game and can be summed up with this phrase, they didnt win this game, we lost it.
We took the lead twice, at 2-1 and 4-3, but failed to convert this into the point we needed. The entire game hinged on an awful decision by the ref, one of there players pushed ours into the area and the top quality ref didnt see this, but saw our player in the area, so he had to give the penalty. This was a terrible decision and turned the game.
Tom and Paul both scored 2, with 1 of Toms being a cracking goal off the post. The defending in this game was awful. The main reason we lost, was because our defending wasnt good enough.
Anyway, this game will provide a valuable lesson (in cheating) and all we need is a point next week to go up. So look forward, not back
Match 5
How the match went: This was a good game against the Atlantis Rangers, or should I say the Jungalist Soldiers.
We played well tonight and although we played a completely different team to the one we beat 3 weeks ago, this match showed the huge strides that the Sharp Shooters have made in 6 months. We were quick, sharp and did well; Paul and Alex both got a couple of goals each tonight
We drew level on 3 occasions and then conceded more goals. Overall we did well and although we lost, we did enough to give us a good chance of being promoted next week.
Hopefully this time next week, we will be celebrating promotion
Match 6
How the match went: This 0-0 walkover win gave us 3 points and barring Atlantis turning over SBU, guaranteed promotion.
That didnt happen and promotion was sealed.
Promotion at last.
End of season thoughts:
At the start of the season, I said it would be a disappointment if we did not finish in the top 2. It's now the end of the season and I'm not disappointed. Although we were top of the league at the half way stage, we finished 2nd and deservedly secured promotion.
I end on a big well done to the Sharp Shooters team members for this season and also SBU for gaining promotion
