Season 4 - Division 3 (Prem, 1, 2 & 3)

Season 4 Details

Start of season thoughts:
This season my aim is to finish in the top three. I can see Common Attack and Leigh Boys being our main challengers for promotion, hopefully with a good run of results, promotion will be achieved.

Match 1
How the match went: This match was a complete disaster, we didnt play as a team and we were beaten by a very good side. Previously we had scraped a 3-3 draw with them in season 2, but this performance ranks quite low.

In the match itself, I scored one (its not surprising I can remember that) and I believe Paul and Andy got the other two. Our main problem that night was our defence. I think that we were expecting too much and because of that, time after time, we were getting caught. On a brighter note that night, due to Daves heroics in goal, he won player of the week.

Overall, a terrible start to the season and I did believe at that point, that Leigh Boys would go on to win the division by a mile

Match 2
How the match went: Only one word can be used to describe the entire match, FARCIAL.

With the new league system in place, all the kick off times had changed. This fixture time for this match was 6.40pm and with people having to come home from work in London and Braintree, it was an impossibility. To start with, due to our Keeper getting home form work late, we had no one capable of playing in goal. That night we tried 4 separate keepers, me, Tom, James and Paul. With the exception of Tom, you might as well had a can of Pepsi in goal, because we were all dire.

Also due to the ridiculously early kick off time, we actually had to start the match with 4 players. Now getting to the match, this game was uneven to start and its no surprise that this result occurred, we played hard, I scored a hat trick, our defending was all over the place and any shot that was on target had a chance of going in.

To make matters worse, after our 13-5 drubbing, we underpaid by £1 and they decided to take our goals away, due to underpayment. This would seem fair on the surface, but when you consider that we have always, always, always been in credit since the season started, I dont know how they can justify this. All I got told when i queried this, was to talk to the head office.

Overall I believe that this could have been a tight and competitive match, but wasnt for many reasons. Anyway, Im not a bad loser, well done to Image.

Match 3
How the match went: This was a tight match and a match that we could easily have won.

As I remember this, it was a very closely fought contest. I was pleased with our performance that night, especially after the last two weeks of depression. (Sorry I dont recollect any significant memories from this match).

Common attack deserved to win that game, they played better than us and I feel that they will be promoted into the 2nd division. A big well done to Common Attack.

Match 4
How the match went: This was a tight match and if it had gone on for 2 minutes longer, we could have drawn or even won the game.

When we kicked off this match, we didnt know what they were like, but did wonder how good they were, due to them being 2nd in the table. The opponents didnt appear to be as good as there league position suggested and when we got to half time only 2-1 down, we thought there was hope.

In the 2nd half, it was terrible, we quickly went to either 5 -1 or 5 -2 down (as usual). We then scraped away, getting in the way of everything. Within the last three minutes of the match itself, we managed to pull it back to 5-4 and had them on the back rope.

Overall another 3 minutes and who knows, but it was another good (ish) performance by us.

Match 5
How the match went: We have finally won a game, after our 5th attempt of the season.

We started the game going into the unknown, they were a new team and we didnt know what to expect. The match started well and by half time we were a few goals up and at one point we were 7-3 up. Then disaster struck, we conceded 3 goals, in about 2 minutes, we nearly managed to lose a 4 goal lead, but didnt.

The team did play well this week, with Fung coming in for Alex (Who still has a broken toenail). I myself scored a hat-trick (thats now 6 in 5 games), Paul scored 4 and Andy got the odd goal. Everyone played there part, Tom was solid at the back, Dave made some blinding saves and James did well.

Atlantis actually reminded me of us when we first started, that is an indication of some of the progress we have made.

This was a great match

Match 6
How the match went: This was a match with many chances, which we should have won comfortably.

We had one of the brilliant kick off times, 6.40pm. This is a time I loathe, as I have great trouble putting a team out. We started with a squad of Me, James, Dave, Andy, Tom and the great return of Tim for his 2nd cap for us.

In the match itself, it was a tight game to start with and then disaster struck, we were down to 5-2 and 6 -3, but as usual we battled back into the game. With a stunning hat-trick from Tim (after 2 sublime passes from me) and also goals from Tom and Andy, we battled back and nearly drew level.

Overall, this was a wasted result, as we could and should have wrapped this up, no disrespect to Chronic. I actually mean this, as I do know 2 of there players, although one was actually ill tonight.

Next Season we will have revenge.

Match 7
How the match went: This match never took place, as Rentford pulled out at the beginning of the season. The result stands as a 0-win to us.

End of season thoughts:
I feel that this season has been a disappointment, as I expected us to win a couple more games and finish near the top of the table. I feel it is really unfair, that we have finished 7th. The reason why I feel this is a little unfair, is that we won more games than the team above us, but they got two walkover results. This is just how it goes, hopefully what goes around .............

I'm glad this season is over, next season will be our new beginning and we will be a different team. From the ashes rises a Phoenix.
